Large, black she-cat. She's above average size for a cat, and is very physically strong. She is aggressive and hard to get along with. She picks fights, bullies other cats, and isn't afraid to lash out. She has two daughters, Mossygrove and Dawnstar. She was kind of a terrible mother and often expected far too much from her kits. She's never been able to hold onto a mate for long, as nobody can put up with her attitude.
She is generally abusive and manipulative, and full of ambition. She's not afraid to share her opinions, and tends not to have a filter. What she lacks in charm, she makes up for in intimidation. But despite all of her flaws, she is a leader who loves ShadowClan. Everything she did in her life was with her Clan's best interest at heart, as all she wanted was for ShadowClan to be known as strong and great.

Towards the end of her time as leader of ShadowClan, she grew increasingly paranoid. Her daughter, Mossygrove/Hailstorm, whom she had abused her whole life, had gone missing. Icestar wanted her back, not because she cared, but because she was confident that the little worm was sharing Clan secrets with the enemy. When WindClan drove ShadowClan out, that was what fully convinced Icestar of her daughter's treachery. She ordered Dawnstripe/star to find her and bring her back, and she did, which ended in Mossygrove knocking Icestar from the Highbranch and breaking her spine, as well as tearing out her throat, which, combined, took the rest of her lives.

Even in death, she holds an iron grip on her Clan. Residing permanently in her own afterlife territory, effectively purgatory, a landscape on the border between StarClan and the Dark Forest, where the skies are in an eternal state of twilight, she watches over her clan and visits the high ranks in their dreams. She still has many great plans for ShadowClan, and relishes the fact that she can still manipulate them even if she no longer walks among them. She prays that one day she will have the opportunity to return, like Thunderhowl did.
